My collecting journey began in 1972, when the excitement of scraping together enough money to buy a pack of cards was one of the highlights of my childhood. Some of my favorite memories are opening packs with my cousins and hoping to land players from my favorite team, the Cincinnati Reds. Like many collectors of that era, the hobby was about far more than the cards themselves — it was about the anticipation, the connection to the game, and the memories created along the way. Even after graduating from high school and stepping away from actively adding to my collection, I always cherished the cards and the nostalgia they represented. After retiring from a 30+ year career in education, the passion for collecting returned almost instantly. Reentering the hobby brought back the same excitement and appreciation that I felt as a kid opening packs decades ago. Today, I enjoy not only the history and artistry behind the cards, but also the eye appeal and presentation that make certain cards truly stand out. The hobby has come full circle for me, and I am grateful to once again be part of a community built around collecting, memories, and a shared love of the game.
