1953 Topps Satchel Paige #220

A strong card. The only items damaging eye appeal are around the edges. Satchell's portrait is immaculate.

A great card with clear issues that don't take away from by enjoyment.

I see a NM looking card at a discount due to stains on the back. My kind of card.

I think this is almost a flawless card and has extremely sharp eye appeal. Does have some OC/MC, but the card holds very strongly.

The front looks great aside from some surface wear and minor print defects along with the centering shift. The stains or glue residue on the back would bother me a little and keep this just below A tier for me.

To me, the ’53Ts are all about a clean nameplate, and this one really delivers there. The image and color also pop. Just a slight top-to-bottom centering shift that, for me, keeps it just shy of the top tier.

Colors really standout. Surfaces look clean. Minimal wear in the red name banner. Great looking card.

Solid red which is always the "Eye Appeal Achilles" of this set, that colored area. Image is great with no distractions; centering is the salient flaw that impacts eye appeal to me a bit. As it states in my "Grading Style" bio, backs are not often a consideration for me in terms of aesthetic enjoyment so the damage on this case is not a factor.

very nice looking card with nice colors and image and good centering. the edges and corner by the box distracts but only sligthly. there is some background opportunity but it is an easy card to enjoy

Card seems to be missing some of the blue depth on the background especially on the left side of the card. Outside of that the card has a beautiful image of Satch. Centering is off a bit but not drastic. Love that the red area does not show much of an issue which is typical of this card. The back certainly has some issues which is somewhat of a negative.
