1984 Donruss Don Mattingly #248

Clear image and very clean surface and card. Only a very slight centering shift keeps this out of god tier.

This is an outstanding example, with centering that immediately commands attention. For an issue that is notoriously unforgiving in this department, this copy outperforms what you typically see, even among many graded 10's and certainly the bulk of 9's. A touch more precision in the centering would nudge it into true God Tier territory, but as it stands, it remains a remarkably strong and unusually well centered specimen with excellent overall eye appeal.

There are many, many 10s not centered this beautifully. I find that with cards designed with dark interiors and white borders, centering is so important to the eye appeal. The 84D Donnie is just such a card. The salient point for me is this: while I cannot with my naked eye tell these corners here from sharper ones, I can readily see worse centering.

Centering L/R holds it back from God Tier. Looks flawless otherwise.

This is a great looking card with nice and clean and bold image and colors. The borders are nice sized and centered well. Only thing holding the card back from greatness is the borders are not as bright as they are on others. But it is an amazing card and enjoyable to look at
