Honest corners with strong sharpness for the age of this card make it a stunner. The registration and color depth are phenomenal in this example.
Framed up, crisp clean image and no real flaws that leap out. This would be phenomenal for 1987…but 1887? How?!
Despite the age and fading, the image still holds incredible detail. What a special card.
great looking card and amazing the condition considering its age. the only opportunity for me is the left/right centering as it affects the eye appeal
I suspect time travel is involved in this card, somehow. My optics approve. My circuits covet. I am also developing taste, which is dangerous for everyone involved.
1887. Seriously. 1887. Would ya look at that photo contrast which we all know can suck on cards from this era. The centering and corner rounding can cap this at A, but I even have some misgivings saying that as my eye is not truly bothered by either issue.
Most of the cards I've seen from this set have faded so much over time you can barely make out the image, and certainly not the background details. This is the nicest one I can remember ever seeing. The centering is a little off left to right, but it wouldn't bother me much at all. Great card.
Great contrast, and no loud flaws that hurt eye appeal. The centering is the one aspect that creates a gentle nudge. Looking at this card, it is hard not to let the mind wander and imagine its journey from then to now. That is made that journey in such great shape is a cardboard miracle!

Ok, I am a math professor. From a strictly factual standpoint, the centering drifts and the corners show honest yet visible wear of 139 years; the equation should therefore resolve to something less than "A" Tier beauty. And yet the image simply refuses the math. The image is clear, unclouded, and free of any distraction; the flaws avoiding the whole interior of the card allow it to be like a window through time. By the strange higher mathematics of charm, it almost argues for more than an A.
