Grades mimic looking at the card from 18” away A Centering C- Registration/ surface B- Corners
I've never seen a Jackie that's not pretty, and this card is no exception. But on pure eye appeal, this card has a number of issues that detract.
The color and image look nice but the centering is off and the stain and pen marks distract.
Surface flaws are the clear villain here. The stains along the top edge, the soft print registration, and the off center framing collectively drag the card down. The irony is that the heart of the piece, the central image of Jackie, is genuinely appealing. His portrait has strong presence, and the yellow field behind him still feels vibrant. Unfortunately the recurring stains and repeated print marks around the border are difficult to overlook and they erode the overall eye appeal enough that this example settles at a firm grade of D.
The main issue is good and colors are good but between the stains and the off centering this is not a card I personally can enjoy
Take away that stain and I really find my eye focusing just on Jackie and not so much the '3' written on the left. The Eye Appeal is salvaged by the brightness of the Jackie portrait/yellow.
The central image of Jackie holds my eye and the yellow around him is clean. The staining in the top border is the primary issue for me, even more so than the writing.

My cycloptic eye detects various obvious flaws (centering, stain, writing), yet eye appeal points are saved due to an unobstructed subject image and surrounding yellow background. Human and artificial eyes can enjoy the images of Jackie Robinson on this card to a much greater extent than one would think, given the various flaws.
