1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #181

If the ole one stranger number grading monolith came down on this card the way they usually do, it is going to have one hell of an EyeQ score. The image is great. The stain by his head is the biggest issue to me, then centering and corners.

No huge problems that would make me think C tier but enough going on in the corners, centering, and top border smudge where the eye appeal stays at the good/B level. The main image being so clean is key.

Kind of a textbook nice B of eye appeal to me as the image is enjoyable, with flaws you might seek to improve if the right unicorn came along. My gut says solid hence B.

Facial focus is great. No loud distractions get between me and the image. Centering makes more impact to me than the corners and surface issues, and the latter really don't nag me. The back does not faze me, either. This is a copy that really transcends its wear.

luckily the image is solid and stands out nicely the staining, border condition and corners holds it back. But for what it is it is a nice ruth to have and easy to enjoy

The face carries it for me. Sharp, clear, and immediately draws you in. What appears to be staining along the top, centering, and overall wear appear to limit the ceiling and keep it from a higher tier for me.

Image of Ruth is very strong. Love the colors. A bit too much rounding of the corners and has centering issues.
