How Close you looks determines the grade on this card. From Afar the card is so far above the slab grade. The colors POP and the image of the Babe jumps off the page. The borders are nice sized and it is nice and clean. Off centered but within my likealbe range. Even the Back has the WOW factor. But than I look close and I see a horizontal line going left to right and thru his face and 1 small dot and the field of red. I these two things could cost the ratings much. For Me I see what I first see. And I see the beauty of the card and I love this card

I love seeing and reviewing cards like this. I love finding and securing them even more ;) This card reminds me of a few I own, specifically my two PSA 1.5 1957 Topps Mantles. Very often, wrinkles/creases like the one on this Ruth require light to hit them at a certain angle for them to "appear." I call them "magic wrinkles." They also magically reduce price while allowing us to enjoy a card that hits the eye wonderfully. From my decades of handling cards like this, I would bet my bottom dollar the wrinkle on this card behaves in just that manner. The red is rich with no white speckling, centering is strong, borders are white, cap is focused. On a wall display or on a desk stand, from a normal viewing distance, this is A- to me all day, maybe even better.
