This is just one of those cards where what it is rises above eye appeal. Even so, how great is it that the autograph is so well placed, well struck, and no wear encroaches on it! Ty is also almost unscathed.
Some cards, eye appeal is just defined very differently from others, to me. Here, what matters to me is that I can stare at that auto with nothing distracting me, and I can even drift my eyes up to his face and that creasing does not hurt the enjoyment. The rest of the card, the perimeter heavy wear or the centering, I just don't find it problematic because the auto is the star of this show and then the face has to be clean. The crease that runs through his face is why this does not break out into A- level for me.
A grail piece for sure. Beautiful auto and nicely placed. Heavy creasing including across the face is the main issue.
Museum caliber piece! Yes there is severe off centering here and noticeable creases, yet the star attraction of the autograph has been left to shine after all this time, and that commands all the eye's attention. Also, the wear does not really affect the portrait image that much. Because the wear is on the perimeter for the most part, the overall eye appeal remains a very high B+.
Incredible card! This is amazing for what it is, but not high eye appeal.
It is all about the Autograph. To have a Ty Cobb Auto on a card is rare and on a T206 even more so. Add to it that the Autograph is clean, bold, and well centered. It overrides all else to Me but the condition issues still held it back but not as much as it would have without the auto
I know how rare it is to find a signed Cobb card, especially a signed green portrait, but the centering and surface issues do lower the eye appeal rating for me.
Signed vintage is its own realm-- and that's why it has its own section on this site. This card is monumental and the eye is locked onto that autograph and portrait. How lucky for the card and us collectors that no damage ever affected the signature or the better part of his face. A piece that pleases the eye in a very unique way.
1. Great Cobb card to have signed; 2. Autograph is perfect; 3. Image is great. Rest of the card doesn't matter to me. As a Cobb collector, this is the signed Cobb I'd want.

Poor condition and eye appeal.
