It's a signed Gehrig rookie. It was cherished. It was signed early in his playing days. This is the type of card we hope to have represent us in our PC's. I'll be thinking of it the rest of the day.
Itβs a signed Gehrig rookie β the autograph is fantastic and the rest of the card is passable.
The image of Lou is good, but the paper loss, staining, and pinhole detract too much.
Tough. So rare, but the paper loss is severe. Signature is well crafted and only slightly faded after 100 years.
Auto 8, what? I'm not a huge auto on vintage guy. I'll take it on a baseball, but this one WORKS! I typically skip auto reviews, but there are a couple where I'm like- "yeah I get it." This is most assuredly one of those.
Great card but on this site we are judging eye appeal and the paper-loss on front makes it hard to give a high grade.
The fact that it is a auto rookie Gehrig is a wow. The auto location is nice but not bold enough for the size of the card. Major issues with corners and loss of paper
Even setting aside that there are only 3 signed Gehrig RCs known to the hobby, this specimen benefits from its wear avoiding the central subject image, and the auto as well; the wear of its 100 years through time even steered clear of most of the name plate in bottom left. That said, the eye is drawn to the top left's paper loss. Were that not present, I could totally look past the bottom left. Obviously, on this card, the reverse is a non-issue. A monstrously important card that delivers eye appeal well beyond expectations for the usually very beat-up '1' grade.

Monumental card. I would never think I could say the eye appeal was B level with paper loss on front, yet let's face it: the eyes ping pong between the face and the autograph, both of which are dyn-o-mite.
