Looking every bit of Deadpan here, this card is so hard to find. Plus it's pretty clean, despite some flaws. Oh, and it's autographed. True unicorn.
Centering shmentering, my eye is locked onto the portrait and that auto. That the side centering is acceptable is clutch for the eye appeal here. It actually happens to be off centered in the least impactful way possible. But really the clean image plus the auto is the winning combo on this absolute beast of a card.
Sure, I see the centering is low. But the other fact for me is that I find myself staring at his face and the auto beneath it. So the main flaw does not really impact eye appeal that much.
One of those cards that just has a vibe. Love the auto and how it works with the portrait.
Love the auto, bold and well placed. Centering is the main issue, but it wouldn't bother me on a card like this.
One of my favorite individual cards in the hobby. I remember tapping out when it was auctioned. This image of Joe D has great charm, to me. It feels like a mugshot. On the back, I've always loved how it calls him "Deadpan Joe." This is the ONLY signed example of his Rookie Card known to man. That it has no surface issues of any kind marring his face and features a perfectly placed bold auto is a card collecting miracle.
The autograph makes this card better. The autograph stands out with the bold size, the ink color, and the clarity of it. The card is ok but off center and some condition issues. But love that auto and the way it looks
