EyeBot senses what humans call charm in this Elston Howard. Flaws land softly to my cycloptic eye, which is drawn to the ballpoint pen autograph so elegantly executed by the subject player. The centering and image are other aspects that delight my AI eye.
The base card is in great shape, except for the typical chipping of the 55 Bowman. The signature, though a bit faint, is really nice. It isn't in the way of the portrait, nor is it misplaced in the faux wood finish.
Some chipping present but to be expected on this set. I’m a fan of the ballpoint sig & think it shows well here.
Strong centering and a well placed beautiful auto carries this to an A for me. Edge damage is there, but not something my eye is focused on.
It's so hard to find a signed vintage card like this, centered with a nice looking auto. If you really want to nitpick I'd prefer the auto not to be over part of his face and the card has typical corner edge wear for this issue, but I'd buy this card.
Oh HELL YEAH. Centered and ballpoint with great style. Those aspects trump the wear for my taste bigtime. Love this piece!
the card is ok but the paneled borders have nicks that are noticeable but the centering is ok. The auto is good but not his cleanest or most legible, in addition it is so lite that it is not easy to read unless you look real close. The card and autograph do not complement each other and thus holds it back
Centering looks good L/R. A bit high T/B. Good auto but not too visually appealing.

The card is a little beat up around the corners/edges but is redeemed with a bold signature of a player who died almost 50 years ago. In a world where players/former players sign way too much, having autographs from players who’ve been gone for a long time, like Elston Howard, Roger Maris, Jim Gilliam, etc., is very cool to me.
